Through collisions of classical composition, industrial texture, and noise, Samuel Barbier-Ficat interrogates the dramaturgical self and the social performance of identity within contemporary social spaces. His practice explores the staging of systems of legitimacy, identity formation, and performance as unstable forms of theatre.
Among his latest works and performances are Curtain Music for Rupert (Vilnius, 2024), Klementina for Drifts Gallery (Vilnius, 2024), Hard To Find The Wrong Way for Pushkin House (London, 2024), Live at Distance Anatomy III (London/NYC, 2024), Live at Lukiškių Prison, the opening act for Yves Tumor (Vilnius, 2024), and Fantôme (in collaboration with Yiwen Li) for Bloomsbury Theatre (London, 2023).
